Complete Guidelines for Manuscript Preparation
To ensure timely processing and avoid delays in peer review, authors are kindly requested to carefully follow the instructions in this guide. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in a delay in sending the manuscript for review.
The Journal of Production and Processing of Agricultural and Horticultural Crops publishes original research articles in the following fields after peer review:
  1. Crop Production and Agronomy (Physiology and production of field crops)
  2. Horticultural Crop Production (Physiology and production of horticultural plants including vegetables, fruits, and ornamentals)
Note: According to the regulations of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, this journal is not authorized to review or publish manuscripts in the following subjects:
  • Genetics and Biotechnology
  • Medicinal and Rangeland Plants
  • Processing of Plant Products
General Conditions

The manuscript must not have been previously published in any scientific journal or submitted elsewhere for consideration.
After registration, all authors are required to complete and upload the “Copyright Transfer Agreement” form (available on the journal’s main page) as a pre-submission file, to ensure the protection of authors’ rights and prevent potential misconduct.
The corresponding author (marked with an asterisk) is responsible for the content and authorship order of the manuscript and will handle all correspondence with the journal.
The corresponding author must be a faculty member and cannot be a student.

Important: The number and order of authors, their academic ranks, and institutional affiliations cannot be changed after submission.
Accepted articles are published strictly according to the date of acceptance, and the publication date will not be altered or announced in advance.

Avoid using footnotes for explanations in either Persian or English. If necessary, include all relevant information in parentheses within the text. As much as possible, refrain from using foreign words. Scientific terms, names, locations, materials, and other foreign words should be written in Persian followed immediately by the original term in parentheses.
Scientific names of living organisms should always be written in Latin (English) and italicized throughout the manuscript.
Manuscripts must be prepared in a single-column format, with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.
Each page should be numbered, and the line spacing must be 1.5.

Use the following font specifications:
  • Persian text: B Lotus, size 12
  • English text: Times New Roman, size 10
The manuscript should be written in a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 16 pages (including all tables, figures, and references).
Formulas must be prepared using the latest version of MathType (version 6 or later).

Introduction
The introduction should define the research topic and hypothesis, summarize previous related research, explain the rationale for the study, and state the main objective.
Materials and Methods
This section should include the materials used, detailed descriptions of new or modified methods, or references to established standard methods.
Results
Present the findings of the research in the form of text, tables, and figures.
Avoid repeating numerical data in multiple forms (e.g., table and figure simultaneously).
Equations and formulas must not be inserted as images.

Discussion
Interpret the findings by explaining the relationships and causes underlying the results, supported by relevant literature.
If necessary, the “Results” and “Discussion” sections may be combined as “Results and Discussion.”
A general conclusion summarizing the major findings and possible applications may also be included.

Acknowledgments
At the end of the paper (before the list of references), authors must include a brief acknowledgment section recognizing individuals or institutions that provided financial or scientific support for the study.
References
References and Citation Style In-text Citations All references cited in the text must correspond to those listed at the end of the manuscript, and vice versa. Citations should be indicated by numbers in parentheses, e.g., (1), and should follow the order of appearance in the reference list.
When multiple references are cited together, the numbers should be listed from smallest to largest, separated by commas, and read from right to left (in Persian text).
If authors’ names are mentioned in the text, cite them as follows:
One author: Jones (ref. number)
Two authors: Jones and Brown (ref. number)
More than two authors: Jones et al. (ref. number)
The list of references should appear at the end of the manuscript, including only the sources cited in the text. References must be numbered and arranged alphabetically by the first author’s surname.
References in non-English languages (such as French, Arabic, Russian, etc.) should not be included. Persian references must be cited in English transliteration, with “(In Farsi)” added at the end.
If multiple works by the same author are cited, they should be listed chronologically (oldest to newest). When several publications by the same author from the same year are cited, distinguish them with lowercase letters (a, b, c) following the year. Single-author works should appear before multi-author works.

English Abstract
The English abstract must be a complete and fluent translation of the Persian abstract. It should be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English that accurately reflects the content of the paper. Authors are strongly advised to consult a faculty member fluent in English or a professional English-editing service before submission. Both the title and the English abstract should be carefully proofread for spelling, grammar, and clarity prior to submission. Manuscripts with poor English quality will be rejected at the initial editorial review stage.
English Keywords
English keywords must be the exact translation of the Persian keywords. When mathematical symbols (such as ×, +, –, >, <, =) are used, a space should be inserted between the symbol and the adjacent numbers or words.

Technical and Formatting Guidelines

Text Structure

The font used for the article title and the main section headings (Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, General Conclusion, and References) should be in bold. Subheadings may be used if necessary; however, the use of excessive subheadings should be avoided.
Tables should be used to present data concisely and clearly, without duplicating results already shown in figures.

Tables and Figures

Every table or figure should have a clear and specific title. The title should be as concise and clear as possible and should accurately reflect the content of the corresponding table or figure. To write the title of a table (or figure), the word "Table” (or “Figure”) and its number should be given, followed by a period and then the title of the table (or figure) in Persian. To ensure that tables (or figures) presenting the results are also accessible to non-Persian-speaking readers, the title and number of each table (or figure), as well as the notes provided below the table (or figure), should also be translated into English and presented below the Persian and English descriptions. The text within the table (or figure), column headings, axis titles, and all symbols should be written in English. Dates mentioned in the table (or figure) should be converted to the Gregorian calendar and presented accordingly. Clearly, all numerical values in the table (or figure) should also be written using English numerals, and the columns of tables should be arranged from right to left.
All figures (graphs, photographs, diagrams) or tables must be numbered consecutively.
Ensure that all symbols, axis titles, and units are legible and consistent with those in the text and tables.

Numerical Data

The number of decimal places reported for each measured trait should correspond to the accuracy of the measurement method and the instrument used. For a given variable, the number of decimal places should be consistent across all data whenever possible.
For numerical values greater than 100, decimals are not necessary.
For numbers between 10 and 100, use one decimal place, and for numbers smaller than 10, up to two decimal places are sufficient.
Avoid using more than two decimal places whenever possible.

If a sentence begins with a number, the number should be written in words, and the unit of measurement should also be written in words.
Example: “Twenty milligrams per liter of zinc were added to the solution.”

Measurements

Use SI (International System of Units) throughout the manuscript.
Length: meter (m), millimeter (mm), micrometer (µm), nanometer (nm)
Area: hectare (ha), square meter (m²)
Volume: cubic meter (m³), liter (L)
Mass: kilogram (kg), gram (g), milligram (mg), microgram (µg), nanogram (ng)
Yield: kilogram per hectare (kg ha⁻¹), liter per hectare (L ha⁻¹)
Energy: joule (J), joule per square meter (J m⁻²), watt per square meter (W m⁻²)
Pressure: megapascal (MPa)
Temperature: degree Celsius (°C)
Transpiration: millimole (H₂O) per square meter per second (mmol m⁻² s⁻¹)
Photosynthesis: micromole (CO₂) per square meter per second (µmol m⁻² s⁻¹)
Concentration: gram per liter (g L⁻¹), mole per liter (mol L⁻¹), millimole per liter (mmol L⁻¹), micromole per liter (µmol L⁻¹), nanomole per liter (nmol L⁻¹)
